5 Unexpected Things that Brenda Wairimu has in Common with Monica
Monica is known for her go-getter, no-nonsense attitude as she schemes her way to the top. But is Brenda Wairimu anything like her?
The award-winning actress stars in the Kalasha-nominated drama series on Showmax that follows the life of Monica, who tries to beat the odds to get the life she wants.

Monica, a girl from the ghetto, starts as a beauty shop attendant who gets fired for being lazy at work. Irked by her boss’s actions, she quickly devises a plan with her friend to try and get back the money she’s owed, only to find that the shop owner left with everything.
Monica must figure out a way to get to her dream of being part of the elite in society. Soon enough, she finds a way out, but at the expense of her love life, friendships, and family bonds.
We looked at the similarities between the sassy actress and her on-screen persona of Monica. Here’s what we found.
People think they’re both arrogant
If you’ve watched Monica and follow Brenda in real life, you’ve probably come across comments that she’s arrogant. From the series, Monica seems like an arrogant woman from the first episode; in fact, her former boss believes she’s lazy and arrogant -- probably why she fired her.
However, Brenda believes that her introverted personality is to blame, and that’s probably why some people think that she’s arrogant.
Brenda also says she’s usually anxious in social settings, which could explain why some people believe her character in Monica – and possibly other films – are actually her portrayal.
You can’t live without lipstick

A glance at any photo of Brenda, and you’ll always find her wearing a different lippie colour. Monica also doesn’t go a day without lipstick. It’s like her signature statement.
In fact, one of Brenda’s pet projects is with a cosmetics and beauty centre run by her friend. She says she’s been so involved with it that people think she owns the shop.
As a brand ambassador, she pretty much gushes about it all over her social media pages. That explains why she’s always looking all dolled up.
We think her favourite is the red lippie.
It makes the first move in relationships
Monica and Brenda tend to make the first move on the men they date. Monica sets her eyes on Bob, the governor’s son while juggling her relationship with Mariga, her true love in the drama series.
Brenda has revealed on different occasions that she’s always made the first move on the guys she’s dated before. And even though she says she’s not dating anytime soon, it has rubbed off on her on-screen persona.
She says she doesn’t feel the need to go out there and find someone. Meanwhile, she pursues her favourite passions and pastimes: acting and gardening, which she picked up from her mom.
Gotta love black

Looking at many of Brenda and her on-screen alter ego Monica’s outfits, you won’t miss black. It makes up most of the colours in her acting and real-life outfits, and she rocks the colour like a boss.

Hate being broke
Monica starts as a shop attendant whose boss soon fires her and disappears without paying her in the drama series. Monica ends up broke and frustrated, but she vows not to live a life of poverty.
Brenda also met with several challenges in life that shaped her into who she is today. The gorgeous actress says she was destitute while living with her mom and wasn’t comfortable asking her for money every time.
However, Brenda confesses that even in that situation, she never went hungry, though sometimes they came close to it. However, her life took a turn for the better after auditioning for Changing Times, alongside more than 800 other hopefuls.
