Country bus demolition plans

Meanwhile, the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) plans to put up an ambitious multi-storey parking area to ease congestion in the city.

The NMS Director-General Mohamed Badi disclosed he had earmarked Machakos Country Bus Station among other termini, which would be converted to underground parking bays.

“NMS has already initiated the process of developing underground parking at Sunken Park which will also happen at Machakos Bus Park. And all these underground parking areas will be digitally controlled,” he said.

The parking bay will be similar to the one implemented by the Holy Family Basilica, which currently has a capacity of 536 from 120 cars that it accommodated previously.
