Kenya Power Announces Attachment Opportunities for Certificate, Diploma and Undergraduate Students

When is the deadline for KPLC attachment?
In an advert published on its website, the electricity distributor asked ongoing learners in tertiary institutions to submit their applications by Friday, March 28.
The utility company asked candidates to submit their cover letters and Curriculum Vitae (CVs) online through its recruitment portal.
It clarified that successful students will gain hands-on work experience for three months in different departments.
"Interested persons should submit their applications online by visiting the Kenya Power website: under the public information tab and career opportunities section. Applications should be received not later than Friday, March 28, 2025. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. Canvassing will lead to automatic disqualification," it stated.
"The industrial attachment opportunities are available in various departments for a maximum period of three months effective May to July 2025," it added.
Which courses qualify for KPLC attachment?
- Bachelor's degree - technical and non-technical.
- Diploma - technical and non-technical.
- Craft certificate:
- Electrical and electronics engineering (power option).
- Mechanical or automotive engineering.
- Building and civil engineering.
- Plumbing.
What are the requirements for Kenyan students?
- Students should be available for the entire three months of the attachment programme.
- Candidates must be enrolled full-time at an accredited educational institution and working towards obtaining a degree, diploma, or craft certificate (only in the fields mentioned above).
- They ought to possess a legitimate letter of introduction from an accredited educational institution.
How many staff will KPLC hire?
Over the previous five years, KPLC revealed that 2,234 employees left the organisation as a result of natural attrition.

In the next two years, 488 of the electrical distributor's employees are expected to retire, leaving the company short-staffed.
KPLC announced that it will put in place a three-year plan for the development of its workforce that will prioritise vital skills and address staffing gaps and succession planning.
The state-owned firm plans to hire 2,981 employees within three years to plug the deficit.
What was Kenya Power's profit?
In other news, KPLC's net profit increased significantly to KSh 9.9 billion from KSh 319 million in the six months to December 2024.
According to its most recent financial data, the power distributor's sales increased by 5%, from 5,225 Gwh to 5,507 Gwh.
Kenya Power attributed the increase in sales of electricity units to increased usage brought on by more dependable networks and the addition of new clients.
