Why Super Metro halted operations in March 2025

The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) suspended the company's operating licence after passengers raised safety concerns.

NTSA directed the matatu operator to comply with set regulations, including inspection of its 294 minibuses.

This saw the company halt its operations until the exercise was completed.

The company complied with NTSA's directives on safety and regained its operational licence, resuming operations.

The regulator accused the company of unroadworthiness of its fleets due to a lack of inspection certificates.

Other offences the matatu operator was accused of were untrained drivers and crew who serve passengers.

The company suspended operations for three days in April 2025 to comply with the NTSA directives.
