William Ruto's Office Announces Sale of Cars, Other Items by Public Auction

These include motor vehicles, tyres, obsolete spare parts, laundry machines, and scrap metals.

The auction, which is open to the public, is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 13, 2025, starting at 10:00 a.m. at the State Department for Roads, Ruiru.

According to a public notice published on MyGov, the sale will also include car batteries, old carpets and rags, a car washing machine, generator halogen security lights, an electric cooker, and a lawn mower, among other items deemed obsolete by the State House.

"State House intends to sell by public auction unserviceable motor vehicles, tyres, car batteries, obsolete vehicle spare parts, laundry machines, scrap metals, old carpets and rags, car washing machine, generator halogen security lights, electric cooker, lawn mower among other items," read the notice in part.

Conditions to participate in State House auction

Prospective bidders are required to pay a refundable deposit of KSh 50,000, which must be made in cash at the cash office of the Executive Office of the President – State House, Nairobi.

The appointed auctioneer for the exercise is Astorion Auctioneers, whose office is based in Nairobi.

Kenyans unclaimed assets to be auctioned

In other news, a wide range of unclaimed motorcycles, vehicles, and other items that were held at various police stations and private yards across Kenya were earmarked for public auction under the Disposal of Uncollected Goods Act.

Makys Auctioneers announced it would sell over 20 motorcycles and a tuk-tuk from Kilifi Police Station if they remained unclaimed within 14 days from May 2.

Pettfriend Auctioneers said it would auction more than 30 motorcycles, vehicles, and scrap metal from SabaSaba and Mwatate stations.

In Nairobi, Garim Investments and Star Gold Enterprises issued 30-day notices for several unclaimed cars, including a Subaru, Toyota Succeed, and an unidentified model.

Other firms like Wamula Auctioneer Services and Mantrac Kenya also listed assets from locations such as Embakasi, Kanyonyoo, and North Airport Road.

The auctions aim to recover storage, repair, and incidental costs for the idle items.
