Kenya Wildlife Service Announces Auction of Motorcycles, Vehicles From KSh 10k

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has announced that motorbikes and several vehicles would be up for public auction, with bids as low as KSh 10,000.

The auction will be held on two dates in July 2025 and will be run by KWS in association with M/S Valley Auctioneers.

The first auction will take place at Tsavo East National Park in Voi on Tuesday, July 22, at 9:30am, while the second sale will be conducted on Friday, July 25, at Central Workshop-Magadi Road.

Besides cars and motorcycles, the government agency will auction scrap metals, assorted old used tyres, batteries, old used newspapers/magazines, new motor vehicles and plant spare parts, new motorcycle rims, lawn mowers and used generators and waterpumps

"Kenya Wildlife Service will sell various items through an auction. Motorcycles valued at KSh 10,000 and vehicles as low as KSh 40,000," the KWS's catalogue on its website stated.

Which are some of the cars KWS is auctioning?

Several Jianshe Masuda cars would be sold at a reserve price of KSh 40,000.

Among the units for sale are a KAT 790X Iveco truck for KSh 300,000, a KBQ 679D Toyota Land Cruiser pickup for KSh 100,000, and a KAY 040V Isuzu DMAX double cabin for KSh 295,000.

A KCE 154D Grand Tiger double cabin, with a price of KSh 150,000 and a KBL 803G Toyota Corolla Saloon valued at KSh 250,000 are also on sale.

Also on offer are 20 tonnes of various scrap items consisting of cables, porcelain, metal, and wood worth KSh 100,000.

What are the conditions for the KWS auction?

  1. The sale of the vehicles and assorted items is subject to a reserve price.
  2. Prospective bidders are asked to view and confirm the conditions of items on their own. They will be on an "as-is-where-is" basis.
  3. Interested bidders must submit a refundable deposit of KSh 20,000 to receive a bidding number.
  4. When the hammer falls, the top bidder must pay a 10% down payment using M-Pesa. The remaining amount must be paid, and the item or items must be picked up within seven days of the auction date, or the initial deposit will be forfeited.
  5. For cash payments, failed bidders will receive their refunds within seven days of the auction; however, banker's cheques will be returned right away.
  6. Items collected after 14 days from the auction date will be subject to a KSh 500 per day storage and security fee until they are picked up.

In related news, Dream Credit Ltd in Nairobi announced an auction of vehicles, offering the cheapest model at KSh 400,000.

Charlton Auctioneers announced the sale of used Nissans, Toyotas and other vehicles.
