"This move aligns with the KRA’s 9th Corporate Plan under its Key Result Areas, which seeks to enhance internal capacity by attracting top talent across all levels of the organisation," said KRA in a statement seen by TUKO.co.ke.

KRA has a workforce of 9,000 staff, who carry out the taxman's tax administration process daily.

Which jobs are in KRA's recruitment drive?

The authority said the recruitment drive covers a wide range of roles from leadership to operational positions.

Among the positions advertised are three commissioner roles and 12 deputy commissioner roles, in addition to several other management positions.

"To enhance inclusivity and broaden participation, KRA will readvertise the Deputy Commissioner positions as well as one Commissioner position," the statement continued in part.

KRA emphasised its commitment to diversity, inclusivity and competitiveness in public service hiring.

The new workforce will have the ability to navigate the complexities of tax administration, respond swiftly to emerging challenges, and consistently deliver high-quality services.

KRA assured Kenyans of a transparent and merit-based recruitment process that attracts the best talent capable of driving its mandate in an increasingly dynamic environment.

In June 2025, KRA announced a recruitment drive for high-level roles, inviting applications for commissioner and deputy commissioner positions across key departments.

The taxman invited applications for 15 open positions spanning strategic areas, including customs services, domestic taxes, digital transformation, intelligence and risk management.

KRA urged applicants to present several clearance documents, including a valid certificate of good conduct from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), a clearance certificates from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), and an approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) and a valid KRA tax compliance certificate.
