The opportunities are open in the Ministry of Lands, Public Works, Housing, and Urban Development, under the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.
This drive is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to equip graduates with practical work experience to address the persistent youth unemployment crisis.

According to the announcement, the internship programme is set to run for a non-renewable period of 12 months, a period during which the interns will get a government-determined stipend.
Upon successful completion, participants will be awarded certificates as proof of their acquired skills and service.
Requirements for Affordable Housing internship applicants
To qualify, candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree or diploma in the respective discipline from a recognised institution and have graduated no earlier than 2018, and be proficient in basic computer applications.
Interested candidates are urged to apply exclusively online via the Public Service Commission's job portal before the deadline on September 6, 2025.

Did William Ruto promise 4000 internship positions?
Earlier, President William Ruto launched the Affordable Housing Internship Programme and announced 4,000 internship slots for fresh graduates from universities and TVET institutions across Kenya.
He said his administration is committed to economic transformation and job creation.
Ruto emphasised that the interns will gain market-relevant skills under the supervision of firms in the built environment sector, with the aim of empowering them to become future professionals or entrepreneurs.
