How Kenya Airways maintains its profit course
In July 2025, KQ announced it was reviving its grounded Dreamliner aircraft to boost its operations.
The airline said it will grow its passenger seats by 528 after it acquires additional aircraft in September 2025.
This makes Kenya Airways one of the top airlines in Africa with the largest fleet.

The national carrier has a current fleet capacity of 34 aircraft. However, additional Dreamliners and three narrow-body aircraft will increase the number.

According to Business Insider, Ethiopian Airlines is the leading airline with the largest fleet.
The national carrier has 165 aircraft and serves different parts of the continent and the international community.
3. EgyptAir
EgyptAir is the national carrier for Egypt and has 58 aircraft. It is the second largest in Africa in terms of capacity.
The airline serves 102 destinations across the world.
4. Air Algérie
Air Algérie is the national carrier for Algeria and the third largest in terms of aircraft capacity
It has 56 aircraft and serves 78 destinations across 28 countries.
5. Royal Air Maroc
Royal Air Maroc is the national carrier for the Republic of Morocco.
The airline has 52 aircraft, making it the fourth largest, and serves 89 destinations.
What's the performance of Kenya Airways
Meanwhile, KQ emerged as a winner during the Global Aviation Challenge 2024 organised by the SkyTeam.
The airline won two prestigious awards, Best Scaled Catering Solution and Best Approach to Scaling Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
Kenya Airways Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Allan Kilavuka said the awards demonstrate the airline's commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Kilavuka noted that by embracing sustainable aviation fuel, reducing single-use plastics, and fostering collaboration across teams, we are driving meaningful change for the aviation industry and our planet.
KQ also received other awards, which include Best Team Collaboration for the Sustainability Champions program and Best Climate Literacy for the multi-level sustainability training programs.
