Welcoming the event, the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Rebecca Miano, EGH, described the annual migration as "unparalleled theatre" and "the "seventh wonder of the world."
Speaking to a distinguished audience that included President William Ruto, Narok Governor Patrick Ole Ntutu and international media partners, Miano painted a powerful picture of Kenya's commitment to conservation and cultural exchange.
“It is always a treat for the soul to return to the Maasai Mara, where earth, sky and life merge into a great symphony of nature found nowhere else in the world,” said Miano, setting the tone for a day that combined ecological wonder with diplomatic harmony.

The migration, which was recently recognised by Guinness World Records as the “World’s Greatest Annual Terrestrial Wildlife Migration", has become a global symbol of Kenya’s natural wealth and conservation leadership.
Miano praised the Chinese media team's role in "uniting cultures, sharing wonder and revitalising humanity’s connection with nature" through the power of technology.
She emphasised Kenya’s focus on sustainable tourism driven by transparency, innovation and inclusivity — values that underpin Kenya's approach to wildlife conservation and community empowerment.
“As thousands of thundering hooves pound the earth in the Mara. We remind the world that Kenya holds a potpourri of wonders for all kinds of imaginable endeavours and every adventurer," she said.
The event not only highlighted the natural splendour of the Maasai Mara but also underscored Kenya’s growing role as a global leader in eco-tourism and cross-cultural collaboration.

Addressing the audience in the heart of the Maasai Mara, President William Ruto described the Great Wildebeest Migration as “nature’s greatest display” and a living symbol of the spirit of Kenya.
“This migration is life in its rawest form — chaotic, beautiful, sometimes painful and a profound symbol of nature’s resilience,” said Ruto.
Ruto praised China Media Group Africa for building a bridge between nations with the live broadcast, describing it as “a celebration of friendship and the breathtaking power of nature".
The head of state drew strong parallels between the animals’ treacherous journey and Kenya’s path of resilience and renewal.
The President highlighted the country’s conservation successes, pointing to the doubling of Kenya’s elephant population since 1989 and the creation of over 160 community conservancies.
“Here, rangers patrol not just to protect animals, but to defend lives, livelihoods, heritage and hope,” he said, inviting the world to discover “magical Kenya — the home of pristine wonders.
