According to the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) Economic Survey 2022, Isiolo ranked among the top ten poorest counties in the country.
The CEO of MySpace Properties said the poverty levels are a result of bad governance and leadership, calling for economic revival through the expansion of the airport.
"We are here because of the cry from Isiolo people. But I have a solution for Isiolo's economy. If the Isiolo International Airport, which sits on a 1.4 kilometre runway, gets an additional 2-kilometre expansion, a Boeing 767 can land in the airport," said Thuranira.
Thuranira noted that the expansion of the airport will open up the region's economy, create jobs for youth and mitigate poverty.
