Nairobi, Kenya - Mwenda Thuranira, the CEO of MySpace Properties, renowned for shaping Kenya’s physical landscapes, has ventured into a decidedly more personal territory: the underarm space.

The real estate magnate has launched a new natural deodorant line, Africa Magic, a move inspired by his long-standing battle with a common but often undiscussed condition.

Thuranira, whose career is built on creating and managing homes and offices, revealed that his motivation stemmed from a personal struggle with axillary hyperhidrosis, or excessive underarm sweating.

In a recent opinion piece seen by TUKO.co.ke, Thuranira detailed how the condition created daily challenges, both personally and professionally.

"For someone in my line of work, it was particularly inconvenient. I constantly had to change shirts, be conscious of body odour, and avoid fabrics or colours that would highlight sweat stains," said Thuranira.

The CEO said his journey for a solution was fraught with frustration. He found that conventional over-the-counter antiperspirants and deodorants were either ineffective or caused painful irritation and skin darkening due to harsh ingredients like alcohol and aluminium compounds.

He said the problem was compounded by the fact that constant shaving, a common hygiene practice for those who sweat heavily, only worsened the irritation.

The turning point came when Thuranira was introduced to potassium alum, a natural mineral salt traditionally used for personal hygiene. Initially sceptical, he was quickly won over by the results.

"Potassium alum works by creating an invisible salt barrier on your skin that kills odour-causing bacteria, without blocking sweat glands," he stated.

Unlike antiperspirants that stop the body’s natural sweating process, this mineral salt neutralises the bacteria that cause odour.

For Thuranira, the effect was immediate relief without rashes, stains, or artificial fragrances.

After experiencing this personal transformation, the entrepreneur in him identified a market gap.

He discovered that pure potassium alum products were scarce and expensive in the Kenyan market, with most options being imported.

"If this natural solution had worked so well for me, how many others were out there suffering silently?" he questioned.

This realisation led to the creation of Africa Magic, a 100% natural deodorant stick made from a single ingredient: pure potassium alum.

Thuranira positions the product as a safe, affordable, and highly effective alternative to mainstream options.

Priced at KSh 999, he notes that a single crystal stick can last for up to a year, making it a cost-effective solution.

Thuranira connects his new venture back to his original mission of caring for spaces.

"Our bodies are our first homes. And just like our physical living spaces, they deserve care, attention, and the best solutions we can find," he remarked.

With Africa Magic, the property developer is aiming to provide Kenyans with the peace of mind and confidence that comes from managing their most personal space, naturally.
