What Kenyans said about Quickmart's response

The statement issued by the retail store sparked debate among Kenyans, with some calling for compensation for the affected customer.

Mamake Feli said:

"The manager should be fired, not suspended... this is not fair. I am always your customer at Quickmart Karen. Your services are good, but you need a thorough investigation at Buruburu branch."

Man Larry urged:

"You should compensate that client. Yaani mfanyi kazi wenu anaiba na kumuekelea mteja? If it is allowed to pass just like that, it'll be the new normal."

Pauline Nasaka wrote:

"And we demand feedback of the actions you would have taken against all employees and the manager of the said branch!"

Taara Ndwiga noted:

"The manager and the staff who cancelled the receipt should be sacked with immediate effect because they are collaborating to intimidate your customers. Suspending them is not enough. Those kids should also be compensated and you should take a step further to know about the other people in the police cells."

Peter Korir said:

"The action taken by the manager is uncalled. He should answer this case at the court. It means that this specific manager has been subjecting customers in untold sufferings. Follow up with all those held in the said police station."

Wanjiru Muthoni asked:

"What of the arrogant manager that everybody is complaining about? How dare he do that? Plus where was your staff if you don't want ATM to be self service? Or we should be waiting for them to do their things then come serve us at their own convinient time?"

Wairîma Wa Wairimû lamented:

"This is just a public show off behind the scenes it's something different..the stuff is normally rude and incompetent.me I'm still waiting to get a response from customer service I was told that my name is not in the system to earn points yet I was earning points in Nairobi but when I came to Mombasa it doesn't reflect....how does that even work ...that's the last time I went to Quickmart."

What happened at Quickmart Buruburu?

In a video doing rounds on social media, the young Nairobi lady accused the branch manager and staff of taking her and her brother to a loading bay and beating them up.

The lady said they were accused of stealing 57 litres of milk from the ATM dispenser.

She narrated that upon arrival at the supermarket, no one was available to serve them at the dispenser, so they filled the milk in a 2-litre bottle and went ahead to pay.
