Its presence in all 47 counties ensures that Kenyans across the country have access to financial support when they need it most.

Chief Executive Officer Dennis Mombo has been instrumental in the lender’s growth and reputation. Mombo, who was recently named Microfinance CEO of the Year, has led Mwananchi Credit towards transparency, innovation, and people-centred lending.

“Our goal is to provide financial solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives. It is about more than just lending — it’s about transformation and empowerment,” said Mombo.

With a strong foundation of trust, a growing nationwide presence and continuous innovation, Mwananchi Credit is not only reshaping the Kenyan credit landscape but also proving that financial institutions can be both profitable and people-centred.

Restructuring loan products

In March 2025, the lender announced plans to restructure its check-off loan business.

The company led to a reshuffling of employees under the product.

Reports were claiming that the microfinance bank fired massive staff following the decision.

Mwananch Credit dismissed the claims, noting that it has not fired any staff members and that the department staff can still be absorbed.
