What did Ruto promise on Nithi Bridge?
President William Ruto acknowledged that the bridge had caused damage and promised to ensure its new design is constructed before 2027.
According to the president, who verified the design, it would prevent accidents on the bridge.
The bridge has claimed many lives because of its hazardous design.
Ruto secured funding in April for the bridge's construction after visiting China.
State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the agreement was reached during high-level talks between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Ruto.
Will govt impose toll fees on the Nairobi-Mau Summit Road?
Plans are in place to construct the Nairobi-Mau Summit dual carriageway.
The financing of the project, which would require Kenyans to pay toll fees for more than 30 years, generated controversy.
The government's decision was criticised by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who said it would result in double taxes on Kenyans.
Kefa Seda, the director general of the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Directorate, dismissed the claims.
Seda argued that the tolls collected on the road would not amount to double taxation.
