The company has come out to explain the liquidation of DT Dobie to clear up the misunderstanding witnessed in recent days. Many thought DT Dobie had gone out of business.

As of March 31, 2023, the CFAO Group operated in Kenya through CFAO Mobility Kenya (formerly CFAO Motors Kenya), DT Dobie, and LOXEA Kenya.

To streamline operations and strengthen its market position, the group completed an internal restructuring effective April 1, 2023 and DT Dobie officially transferred its business assets to CFAO Mobility Kenya, consolidating both companies into a single entity.

"Effective April 1st, 2023, DT Dobie & Company officially merged into CFAO Mobility Kenya Limited, unifying operations under one entity to enhance customer service, streamline mobility solutions, and expand access to globally recognised automotive brands across Kenya," CFAO Mobility explained.

The merger brought together the legacy and expertise of two respected players in Kenya’s automotive sector, creating a stronger and more comprehensive service provider.

DT Dobie goes into liquidation

The company emphasised that the liquidation of DT Dobie is a legal formality required to wind down the entity after its assets were absorbed into CFAO Mobility.

A liquidator has been appointed to oversee the process and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

“For customers, this transition means greater convenience, consistency, and access to a broader range of mobility solutions all under one trusted name,” CFAO Mobility Kenya said in a statement.

CFAO Mobility distributions

CFAO Mobility Kenya now serves as the official distributor of 12 globally recognised automotive brands, offering more than 21 vehicle models.

Its dealer network spans over 40 service centres, authorised dealers, and company-owned branches nationwide.

CFAO Mobility Kenya continues to distribute and service brands including Mercedes-Benz passenger cars, trucks and buses, Toyota, Yamaha motorcycles, Suzuki, Hino, Hyundai commercial vehicles, and Sinotruk (HOWO).

It also offers Automark certified pre-owned vehicles, Winpart value parts, AUTOFAST quick-fix service stations, and Michelin and BF Goodrich tyres.

In other news, the Competition Authority of Kenya (CAK) approved CFAO Motors Kenya Limited’s acquisition of 98% ownership in Kenya Vehicle Manufacturers Limited (KVM), a Thika-based vehicle assembler.
