Data from the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) showed the shilling remained stable against the US dollar, trading at KSh 129.23 per dollar.
The stability of the shilling gives it an edge against regional currencies, including the Tanzanian shilling, Ugandan shilling, and others.

Is Kenyan shilling gaining during CHAN competition
The ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) are poised to determine the strength of the shilling against other currencies.
As Harambee Stars play against Madagascar in the quarterfinals, TUKO.co.ke compared the shilling against the Malagasy ariary (MGA).
On Friday, August 22, one Kenyan shilling exchanged at 34.12 MGA compared to 33.72 MGA reported earlier in the week.

The shilling gained value against the ariary ahead of the match between Harambee Stars and the Barea.
How much will Madagascar fans pay per ticket?
This came as the Confederation of African Football (CAF) raised the ticket fee for the quarter-final match.
Regular tickets increased from KSh 200 to KSh 250, while VIP slots increased from KSh 500 to KSh 600.
Fans paying in US dollars will pay $1.93 for regular tickets and &4.64 for VIP tickets.
How much will Madagascar fans pay in ariary?
Fans supporting the Madagascar team in the VIP launch will part with the same amount of $4.64.
When converted to Malagasy ariary, they will have to part with 20,471.73 MGA.
The Kenyan shilling has been bullish against international and regional currencies for eight consecutive months in 2025.
