Kenya Power Warns Against Individuals Impersonating MD Joseph Siror

In a public notice released on Friday, August 1, 2025, KPLC said the fraudsters are impersonating the Managing Director and CEO, Joseph Siror.

The electricity distributor stated that the imposters are soliciting bribes and favours from the CEO, noting that it has zero tolerance for such vices.

"We wish to alert the public and our esteemed customers of fraudulent individuals impersonating our Managing Director & CEO, Dr. (Eng.) Joseph Siror, while soliciting bribes and other illegal favours.

"Kenya Power has a zero-tolerance policy for bribery, fraud, and any other unethical conduct," said KPLC.

The utility company maintained that all payments for electricity services should be made through authorised channels (mobile money, banks, and Kenya Power banking halls).

Kenya Power urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or impersonation attempts.

"Let us work together to safeguard our community from fraudsters. Usichezwe. Beware of Conmen," said KPLC.

Who is Joseph Siror?

According to KPLC, Siror was appointed as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) on May 2, 2023.

Before his appointment, Siror was the General Manager in charge of Technical Services at the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO).

He boasts over 30 years of experience in various government and private departments. These are:

- Telecommunications (Kenya Posts & Telecommunication Corporation)

- Revenue administration (Kenya Revenue Authority)

- Policy development (NESC)

Siror holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University (China), majoring in Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree and a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Nairobi.

He also holds a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of London and a Postgraduate Certificate in Applied Radiation Protection from the University of Nairobi.

Siror is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a licensed Professional Electrical Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK).

He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Engineers of Kenya.

What's KPLC electricity demand

The warning followed a historic peak in electricity demand across the country.

The company reported a growth in demand of 2,362 megawatts (MW) in July 2025, compared to the previous 2,316 MW demand in February.
