Why was Charles Odhiambo fired in Homa Bay?

Odhiambo's new role comes barely three months after he was dismissed from his role as chief of staff of Homa Bay county.

In a letter dated March 28, 2025, Homa Bay governor Gladys Wanga formally terminated Odhiambo's contract.

It cited gross misconduct and actions that brought dishonour to his office, the county, and the Office of the Governor.

The termination letter partly read:

"I take great exception to your recent conduct, through acts of commission and/or omission, which constitute gross misconduct, unethical behaviour, and/or insubordination. These actions have tarnished not only your office but, most regrettably, the County Government of Homa Bay and the Office of the Governor, in which you serve as Chief of Staff."

The letter further noted that Odhiambo’s continued service was no longer viable, resulting in the immediate termination of his contract.
