Eric had asked for help on social media to locate the woman, and he thought he finally did.
The woman had claimed that the disagreement she had with her husband was due to her children's mental health challenges.
Joyce claimed that her friend offered her accommodation after her husband chased her out of her house.
Eric had asked Kenyans via his initiative Sisi Kwa Sisi, to support them financially, and they had sent over KSh 1 million within a few hours.
The comedian turned philanthropist said that Joyce would use the money to start her own business and move into her own house.

Kenyans sympathised with the woman, but little did they know that Joyce was pretending.
She and another woman, whom she claims is her sister, had hatched a plan to deceive Kenyans.
The two used a man they 'barely' knew to pretend he was the husband chasing her out of their house.
She also used the friend's son, since she knew he would garner more sympathy.
The comedian handed over the phone that Kenyans used to send money to the DCI present.
He made sure that the two would be detained at the police station pending further investigations.
Eric wrote:
"Hey guys. One of the Principles of Sisi Kwa Sisi is that we do serious due diligence before, during and after a case. These Individuals tried to scam Sisi Kwa Sisi lakini Mungu ni Nani? It is very sad that these Individuals would use innocent children to try and scam Kenyans. Tumewashika wako Kitengela Police Station. The Phone is in police custody. The Phone already had KSh 1 million. We are Seeking Guidance from Team Sisi Kwa Sisi on the way forward."
