How much did Harambee Stars pocket?

President William Ruto had rolled out a hefty incentive package for Harambee Stars, pledging KSh 1 million for every group stage win and KSh 500,000 for a draw.

He further promised KSh 60 million for reaching the quarter-finals, KSh 70 million for making it to the semis, and a staggering KSh 600 million if they clinched the tournament title.

After their victory over Morocco, Ruto promised another reward of KSh 2.5 million for each player if they triumphed over Zambia.

Opposition leader Raila Odinga also issued KSh 500,000 to the players after they beat Morocco, to show his support for the national team.

What did Kenyans say about Harambee Stars' wins?

After the national teams' consistent winning streak, a majority of Kenyans attributed their performance to the president's incentives.

Many recalled how Kenya's football team was almost nonexistent before the new coach took over.
