Harambee Stars captain Abud Omar wrote a heartfelt message to Kenyans after the team lost to Madagascar in the quarterfinals at Kasarani Stadium.

The national team, which had great hopes of going further in the CHAN 2024 competition, lost in front of an enthusiastic home audience.

What did Harambee Stars captain say?

Fans throughout the country were upset over the loss, but they also penned messages of support and encouragement to the players.

Kenyans reminded Harambee that they were still the best team, with most saying they had revived hopes that Kenyan football was still alive.

In his touching message, Abud acknowledged that the loss was hard for everyone on the team and that he was sorry for it.

His statements expressed the feelings of the players and the hopes of millions of Kenyans who had been cheering for their national team.

"Dear Kenyans, yesterday’s loss weighs heavily on us. We know we have let Kenyans down, and on behalf of the team, I sincerely apologise," he shared.

Despite the heartbreak they were dealt, the captain didn't just think about defeat, even though it broke his heart.

He said that the supporters were the team's backbone and that they always supported them.

"To all our fans, thank you for your massive support and unity you have been our greatest strength. Though we fell short today, we promise to rise again and fight harder for our country and for you. Team Kenya," he added.

His words showed the close bond the players and fans had, and he stressed that. even though the adventure ended sooner than expected, the solidarity they showed was priceless.

Abud also said that the Harambee Stars would not let this failure define them; Instead, he told Kenyans that the team would come back stronger and more motivated.
