"It is my first time to wear a suit, Jeff. and I feel excited and I was given this suit by Derrick Ogayo. The same person who has just tweeted. When he found out that I was coming to JKL, he told me to go for a suit.
I thank him for giving me this suit, including the shirt, the tie and even a pair of shoes," Nene said.

George Nene floored moneyed competitors

As previously reported by TUKO.co.ke, Nene had no funds for the campaign, no vehicle, and neither did he have a public address to use.

He lived to see his competitors chauffeured in high-end vehicles. This, however, could not distract him.

Despite the many challenges, Nene, 22, emerged victorious awaiting swearing-in.

Nene, a fourth-year student at Egerton University, who vied on a Safina party ticket confessed the journey was not easy.

He said he faced so many intimidations and threats.

He said that being a Safina party candidate, the UDA wave posed a major challenge to him.

He won with 4,310 votes against his closest competitor, who got 4,285.

“Through God and assistance from the people, I overcame the many challenges. They said since I don’t have a family I could not manage the ward, they said I was too young to manage the ward development funds,” he said.
