As Kenyans continue to mourn the passing of veteran radio personality Edward Kwach, his family has announced plans for a fundraiser to honour his memory and accord him a dignified farewell.

Details about Edward Kwach's fundraiser

The announcement was shared by close friend and fellow media personality Nick Odhiambo via social media, where he posted a tribute alongside details of the upcoming fundraiser.

“In memory of a legend! We celebrate Edward Carey Francis Kwach today and into forever. The Voice! The Man! The Legend! RIP Edward... Without You There is No Me!" Nick wrote, echoing the sentiments of many who considered Kwach a pioneer and mentor in Kenya’s radio scene.

The fundraising events are scheduled for Monday, May 5, and Tuesday, May 6, from 5pm to 8pm at All Saints Cathedral in Nairobi.

According to the poster, well-wishers who cannot attend in person can also send their contributions via Paybill number 8065131.

The events will not only raise funds but also provide a space for mourners and friends to share their tributes and cherished memories of the late broadcaster.

How Edward Kwach passed away

Kwach passed away on the night of Monday, April 28, while receiving treatment for meningitis at Coptic Hospital in Nairobi.

His death came just weeks after fellow media personality Caroline Mutoko called upon Kenyans to support a blood donation drive for Kwach.

At the time, Mutoko disclosed that he was critically ill and required urgent blood transfusions to boost his haemoglobin and iron levels.
