Oga Obinna Attributes Bungoma Goliath’s Success to Their Controversial Interview: "Pushed Him"

  • Oga Obinna claimed that hosting Bungoma Goliath on his show motivated the influencer to improve and eventually rise to the level of success he enjoys today
  • Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Goliath refuted Obinna’s remarks, insisting the comedian never offered him support and only mocked him and told him to go back to the village
  • Car Soko's Patrick Riang’a, Goliath’s employer, attributed his growth to hard work and their boss Felix Limo’s kindness, not Obinna

Did Obinna help Goliath?

Speaking during an interview on TV47, Obinna said that hosting Goliath, real name Isaac Otesa, on his show was the catalyst that led to the influencer’s current success.

"If he didn't come for my show, he probably wouldn't have got where he is now because the conversation that we had in the show, is what pushed him to even work better, reinvent and become better. It is the same way that I tell people I have been fired in a couple of places, and if I was not fired and rejected I would not be Obinna because I would be comfortable. If my dad did not chase me away from home those many years ago I would not be me. Sometimes its not even rejection, it's just deflection or rerouting. Why would I stop him from getting whatever he deserves?" Obinna said confidently.

The media personality faced backlash at the time of the interview for mocking Goliath, questioning his talent, and suggesting that he should return to the village if he had no clear goals.

Bungoma Goliath's response

However, when TUKO.co.ke reached out to Goliath, he disagreed with Obinna’s remarks and expressed disappointment in the comedian’s new claims.

"Obinna did not build me in any way because he was telling me to go back to the village and only return to Nairobi once I had figured myself out, the first time I came. The second time, he said I was trying to interfere with someone else’s job (Bradley’s), so saying he’s the one who helped me get to where I am, that’s not true. He was saying if someone has a job with cows or as a watchman, they should help me, is that what it means to build someone? If he truly wanted to help, he would have told me we do something together or found me a place to stay, but instead he told me to return to the village," Goliath said.

He added that Obinna’s alleged attempt to take credit for his progress hurt him deeply.

Car Soko's Patrick Riang’a, who is Goliath’s employer, also weighed in and dismissed Obinna’s narrative.

"Kitu imefanya Goliath akafika mahali amefika, is not giving up. He never gave up despite the challenges that he was facing; he continued to push, and by the time I met him, he was optimistic, he was ready to work. Right now, people are seeing Goliath shining, and they all want to take the credit. I would credit my boss, Felix Limo, for having a kind heart and for being generous to support Goliath. All the support he has got is through our boss," Riang'a shared.

Are women pursuing Goliath?

In another interview with TV 47, Goliath disclosed that several women have been reaching out to him, trying to woo him romantically.

However, he asserted that he is keen on not taking any actions that could jeopardise his marriage.

He also mentioned that his kids might grow to be just as tall as him.
