Rashid Abdalla honours father's memory

Taking to social media, the celebrated journalist shared a series of nostalgic throwback photos in memory of his dad.

The black-and-white and sepia-toned images captured a youthful, stylish man, with many noting the elder Abdalla’s impeccable fashion sense for the era.

Rashid's father also looked young and energetic in the photos.

Rashid accompanied the post with a touching caption that reflected both love and longing.

“Missing you dad. Continue resting in peace. I love you and thank you for everything. Always praying for you,” he wrote.

This is not the first time the TV anchor has honoured his father's memory.

He candidly shared that life was tough following the loss, but he and his family eventually found the strength to accept God’s will.

Elsewhere, in a proud moment, Citizen TV's celebrated duo, Lulu Hassan and Rashid, received top honours at the 2025 Africa Golden Awards.

Rashid was recognised as the Best Male Journalist in Africa, a prestigious title placing him among the continent’s finest.

Although he couldn’t attend in person, Lulu accepted the award on his behalf alongside their daughter, who charmed many with her presence.

Lulu was also honoured separately, taking home the Top Female Media Personality award despite facing stiff competition from leading media figures across Africa.

Their production company, Jiffy Pictures, capped off the evening with a win in the Top Film Production Company category.
