Speaking in an interview with SPM Buzz, the Freshi Barida hitmaker revealed plans to run for a Member of County Assembly (MCA) seat in Nairobi’s Kibra constituency.

While Kibra is divided into five wards—Sarang’ombe, Laini Saba, Makina, Lindi, and Woodley/Kenyatta Golf Course—Stivo did not disclose the specific ward he will be vying for.

The popular artiste said his decision to join politics stems from his desire to address pressing issues affecting young people in his community, particularly unemployment and lack of access to bursaries.

"I'm a future leader in 2027. I’ll start with the lowest elective seat — MCA — and rise with time. Many young people in Kibra are jobless. They don’t get bursaries. When elected, we will offer jobs and issue bursaries. We will work for the people," he said.

He took a swipe at some current leaders, accusing them of failing to serve their constituents and instead using public office for personal gain.

“Some elected leaders are not serving the people. They are just eating and increasing the size of their bellies,” he said pointedly.

Stivo also named Mumias East MP Peter Salasya as a leader he looks up to, praising him for his grassroots approach and commitment to his people.

"People say politics is a dirty game, but that’s not true if you have a worthy leader. For example, Peter Salasya is a good leader," he added.

Stivo Simple Boy’s bold move into the political arena marks a new chapter in his career, as he aims to use his platform and influence to bring tangible change to the people of Kibra.

In a statement on Monday, April 28, Salasya said his decision followed deep reflection, wide consultations, and careful consideration of the nation’s political and economic challenges.

The first-term MP said Kenya is in dire need of bold and transformative leadership to deliver industrial growth, economic justice, and prosperity for all.

If elected, Salasya pledged to prioritise manufacturing, innovation, and industrialisation as key drivers of job creation and economic sustainability.

He said his vision is to shift Kenya away from foreign market dependence by harnessing local talent and resources.

To actualise his presidential ambitions, Salasya revealed plans to unveil a new political movement later this year.

While its name and leadership structure are yet to be disclosed, he promised that the platform will centre the voices and struggles of ordinary Kenyans, especially the youth, women, workers, and entrepreneurs.
