This time, over a luxury car he claims to have crashed in response to Arsenal’s loss to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the UEFA Champions League.

Mike Sonko pre-match remarks

Ahead of the much-anticipated clash, Sonko took to social media with a now-viral declaration:

“Leo ni leo, na tukifungwa hii gari inaingia kwa ukuta (Today is the day, and if we lose, this car goes into the wall)."

Most fans dismissed it as another one of his humorous stunts.

But what followed has left Kenyans both amused and baffled.

After Arsenal's defeat, Sonko uploaded a video on Instagram, claiming he had made good on his promise.

Standing next to a vehicle in the dark, he narrated:

"Eeh tumegongwa, sasa hii gari nimegongesha kwa ukuta… dashboard ndiyo hiyo, hakuna kitu. Mataa yote imeenda. Gari imeisha, lakini Mungu ananipenda mimi bado niko (Yes, we’ve been beaten. I’ve hit the car against the wall... the dashboard is gone, all lights are off, the car is finished, but God loves me, I’m still here)."

In the dimly lit footage, Sonko points at what he claims is a damaged luxury vehicle.

But with no clear visuals, many viewers remain unconvinced about whether any real damage was done.

The video has since gone viral, drawing thousands of reactions ranging from laughter to concern.

Sonko rescues Kimani Mbugua after relapse

Previously, Sonko came to the aid of ex-Citizen TV journalist Kimani Mbugua after he suffered a relapse following earlier rehabilitation.

Sonko, who had sponsored Kimani’s treatment in 2024, expressed disappointment over the setback but remained committed to supporting his recovery journey.

Taking swift action, he dispatched the Sonko Rescue Team, which located Kimani in Makongeni estate, Thika, Kiambu county.

Kimani was taken to Sonko’s offices, where he was given a shower, clean clothes, and food before arrangements were made for further professional intervention.
