Taking to social media, Sonko boldly stated:

"I'll be on the ballot," signalling his readiness to contest for public office once again.

Sonko was impeached in 2020 on charges of gross misconduct and abuse of office, a decision that was upheld by the Kenya Supreme Court, effectively barring him from holding public office.

Despite these setbacks, Sonko has remained undeterred in his political ambitions.

After his impeachment, he aligned himself with the Wiper Party and expressed interest in reclaiming the coveted Nairobi gubernatorial seat in 2022, but was barred by a court order.

Will Sonko be allowed to run for elective seat?

In a recent announcement, Sonko revealed that the United States government has lifted a travel ban imposed on him in 2022, which was originally related to allegations of corruption during his time as governor.

He credited the lifting of this ban to the administration of President Donald Trump and promised to share more details soon.

“Thank you, President Donald Trump, for lifting my travel ban to the US. Details to follow. Those who implicated me are the ones who are most corrupt in this country,” Sonko stated.

Social media users responded enthusiastically to Sonko’s announcement, expressing support and confidence in his leadership potential:
