"The money that was sustaining me was from endorsements and other guys. I just went to the radio for experience. The money was not that much," he explained.
He explained the intense demands that come with being a media personality, including the pressure to maintain a polished public image.
“The job had much pressure because it eats up your time and the payment comes with many demands; for example, you have to be snapped every day, and the photos are posted on social media. That means you have to wear decently. It gives you a bigger name than your pockets,” Mulamwah said.

How drenching incident pushed Mulamwah over the edge
Mulamwah recalled a defining moment that solidified his decision to leave the radio station.
While living in Kariobangi, he once arrived at the studio completely drenched after a motorbike ride to work.
“I walked out and saw cars parked in the yard and wondered if these were my colleagues. Then I went to the human resources manager and asked for better pay,” he recounted.
He argued that some colleagues were earning significantly more, with the previous host he replaced making almost four times his salary.
Mulamwah pointed out the challenges media personalities face when it comes to public perception and financial expectations.
“If I kept working there, I would be asked those tough questions one day. Because people think you have a well-paying job,” he explained.
He added:
“Right now, if I go broke, I can explain that I don’t have a job. But if you work in the media, you will be asked, you were there and came out with nothing.”
