Over a decade since Satrine Osinya survived a tragic terror attack in Mombasa, the young boy has now grown into a teenager surrounded by love from his adopted family, the family of former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko.

How old is Satrine Osinya?

Satrine turned 13 recently, and his milestone did not go unnoticed. His elder brother Gift Osinya, who was adopted alongside him by the Sonkos in 2014, was among the first to celebrate him.

Gift, who turned 24 last week, shared an adorable photo of his younger brother on social media.

"Happy birthday Satrine, may you have the best, may you be happy and have a lovely day," Gift told Satrine.

The touching post was followed by tributes from other family members, including Sonko’s wife, Primrose Mbuvi, who shared a heartfelt message along with a carousel of photos capturing Satrine’s birthday celebration.

"To my son Satrine, happy birthday, my love. May God give you a blessed birthday. May He surround you with love. May God remind you of who you are in His eyes. May He shine His face upon you and guide your path this day and every day. Happy birthday, my baby Satrine," she wrote.

Photos shared online showed the teenager flashing a bright smile as he posed in front of a lush Mercedes-Benz, hugging his parents, and cutting a massive birthday cake.

One family portrait captured Sonko, Primrose, Gift, and Satrine together, radiating joy.

After the family celebration, Satrine was treated to a fun day of go-karting with his friends.

Satrine and Gift were adopted by the Sonko family after their mother was tragically killed in the Joy Jesus Repentance Church terrorist attack in Likoni, Mombasa County, in 2014.

A touching image of young Gift carrying his injured baby brother, who had a bullet lodged in his head, captured national attention and moved Sonko to step in and offer them not just help, but a home.

Why did Satrine Osinya cry?

In another story, Satrine was visibly emotional when Sonko, along with his wife and daughter, travelled abroad.

At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), he said a heartfelt goodbye to his sister, Sandra, who was leaving for London after completing her graduation.

A moving video captured Satrine in tears, as Primrose, Sonko’s wife, offered him comforting words.
