How did Donald Kipkorir celebrate mum?
A day before the Wednesday, May 28, celebrations, Kipkorir reflected on his mother’s illness and shared the cause of her death publicly for the first time.
He admitted that she battled the illness for a while but kept it private to protect her.
Kipkorir looked back at his mother’s unequivocal love for him, the church, and his sibling, saying he is blessed to be her son.
“My beloved mama, Katarina, died on May 27, 2023, after suffering for so long with cancer! I never shared her long suffering with the public because I wanted to protect her. My mama endured agonizing pain for many years without complaining.
"Her unconditional and unrequited love and fidelity to me, my sibling, and to the Holy Roman Catholic Church never wavered! Tomorrow, with invited friends, I celebrate my mama! Blessed to be called Katarina’s son!”
Kipkorir posted a photo of his mother alongside the grand décor for the celebrations.
Come D-Day, Kipkorir took to the dance floor to celebrate his mother’s life. He rhythmically danced in the middle of the stage while showcasing the décor.
It featured huge chandeliers and artificial plants.
“Dancing in memory of my beloved mama,” he wrote.
The comments section was filled with Kenyans sending prayers for Kipkorir’s mother. Here are some of the reactions:
