Why did Vanessa Mdee quit music?
In an engaging sit-down interview with CNN’s Larry Madowo, alongside her husband, American actor and singer Rotimi, Vanessa candidly addressed the real reason behind her decision to leave the limelight.
The Cash Madame hitmaker disclosed that the music industry had become too toxic for her and no longer aligned with her personal values or goals.
“What I do not do anymore is that I do not release music for the industry. I am not part of the music industry, I have no interest in charts or anything,” she said firmly.
Additionally, Vanessa revealed that staying in the industry had started taking a serious toll on her well-being, affecting her mentally, spiritually, and emotionally.
“It was depleting my mental, spiritual, physical and emotional health in many ways. I turned to many different vices that were not good for me as a person. The music industry became extremely toxic for me. I’m not saying it’s everybody’s story, but it was mine.”
Despite the challenges, Vanessa said she remains proud of her contribution to music and the impact she made while in the game.
“I love that I had a moment in music that has shaped and paved the way for many other young girls.
She is now happily married and raising her kids with Rotimi.
