Marya Speaks after Suffering Stroke, Says Young Son Is in Shock

Chokoza singer Marya is well into her recovery journey, nearly two weeks after suffering a stroke.

What happened to Marya?

The Chokoza crooner took to social media to share a photo of herself while sleeping on her couch.

She also shared another image where she was holding one of her children, and her eldest, a son, stood next to her.

Marya shared that her son was in shock after seeing her post-hospitalisation.

"My oldest son in shock," she wrote.

She was recently discharged from the hospital and requires assistance to regain her motor skills.

What are motor skills?

These are the abilities that allow a person to move and control their muscles to perform tasks, such as walking or writing.

Avril shared a poster of Marya's medical appeal for a second time. The family noted that the musician is on a long road to recovery.

The poster read:

"Support Marya in her stroke recovery. Marya recently suffered a stroke and is now facing a long road to recovery after being discharged from the hospital. Because of your continued support in prayer, donation, and financial assistance, she continues to get better every day."

What caused Marya's stroke?

They explained that the donations will help Marya with her everyday care.

"We remain hopeful and extremely encouraged by her strength. Every donation makes a difference as they go towards home care, physiotherapy, and everyday care. Thank you for standing with her. Let’s keep that love going by providing support," the message continued.

Avril revealed that the stroke was caused by a blood clot, which limited oxygen flow to Marya's brain.

"As you know, she suffered a stroke caused by a blood clot that limited oxygen flow to the brain. She has since been discharged and is continuing her recovery at home. Physiotherapy is ongoing twice a day, and although the left side of her body is still unresponsive, we remain hopeful and encouraged by her strength," she wrote.

The musician, Avril, urged Kenyans to reach out to Marya and also pray for her.

"That said, Marya and her family still need us. Please continue to support and reach out to her personally as you’re able. Every call, message, prayer, or visit goes a long way. Thank you once again for standing with her. Let’s keep that love going," she said.

Did Marya work in a brothel?
