Why is Oscar Sudi trending?
The lawmaker, who presided over a widely publicised event in his constituency, oversaw the distribution of items such as vans, boda bodas, water tanks, and posho mills, gifts meant to uplift locals economically.
The event, attended by high-ranking politicians and celebrities, reportedly involved donations valued at KSh 45 million.

However, it was not the scale of the donations or the big names in attendance that captured netizens’ attention.
Instead, it was Sudi’s attempt to translate Kiswahili to English during his speech.
While thanking his friends, some of whom he said came from Tanzania, for helping fund the initiative, Sudi inadvertently mistranslated “shilingi milioni 45” (KSh 45 million) as “KSh 45 thousand.”
“Tuliweza kuchanga pesa ya kununua hii bidhaa shilingi milioni 45, KSh 45 thousand,” Sudi said, prompting widespread laughter and a flurry of memes online.
What was clearly intended to mean “KSh 45 million” quickly became a viral moment, with many Kenyans online poking fun at the blunder.
Social media users resurfaced old clips of Sudi speaking on his education background, while others sarcastically praised 'Engineer Sudi' for his mathematics.
The moment has sparked a wave of hilarious commentary, with Kenyans turning the brief error into endless content.
