Captioning the photo, the parents poured their hearts out to their lastborn.
Michelle expressed her pride as a mother.
"Happy birthday to my sweet girl, Sasha! Can’t believe how quickly time has flown. I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. Love you always," Michelle wrote.
On his side, Obama noted that watching Sasha grow is a gift and he's proud of her.
Happy birthday, Sasha! Watching you grow into the incredible woman you are has been a true gift. I’ll always be proud of you and will always be here for you.
Why did Malia drop Obama's name?
Previously, Michelle shared her thoughts on how both of her daughters are navigating adulthood and working to define their own identities outside of the public's perception of them.
She highlighted Malia's creative journey, mentioning her 2024 short film The Heart, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
In the film’s credits, Malia opted to use "Malia Ann", her first and middle name, without including the Obama surname.
Obama had echoed similar sentiments in October 2024 during his appearance on The Pivot Podcast.
Proud of Malia's achievement in film, he expressed how she had made the deliberate decision not to use the Obama name, reinforcing her desire to create her own path.
