Renowned actor Malik Lemuel, popularly known as Govi, has opened up about what led him to quit the popular Machachari show.

Govi was on a live TikTok session with former KTN child star Junior, where he revealed why he left the show.

The actor and his castmates, including Ian Nene (Almasi), Joy Ohon (Joy), Tyler Mbaya (Baha), and Natasha Ngegie (Stella), have been living different lives.

Govi shared that his decision to quit was influenced by the many years he had acted on the show.

"After our show ended in 2019. I quit the job. Personally. I told myself I had stayed there for 12 years, and I am done. After my exit, people started falling out, and it became a competition and jealousy with others. No love lost, not so many people can understand with people I was on set with," he said.

Govi also shared details about his academic qualifications and revealed he went to the university to pursue international relations.

"Fans will never understand because they used to see us every single week. The more you grow, the more you understand that people have different parts in life. We were from different backgrounds and families. I chose a different path and maintained, went to school and graduated. Now that I am out here, I am hustling," he added.

Is Govi on good terms with former castmates?

In an interview with TUKO.co.ke Govi confirmed that he has no beef with any of his former castmates on the Machachari show.

"For my former colleagues, we are all cool. Everyone is just focusing on what they want to focus on. I studied governance and international relations at uni, so nothing is impossible. I am passionate about change, not politics," he told TUKO.co.ke.

How much did Govi earn from Pepeta?

The former child star featured on the Showmax show Pepeta, and he revealed that he walked away with a six-figure salary.

He also noted that he was anticipating his fans' reactions now that he was transitioning to a more challenging role.

Govi narrated that he got a call to audition for the show while he was filming another show, Mawimbi at the Coast.
