A TikTok content creator met the singer on the streets and sought to ask him a couple of questions. Diamond donned a black shirt, numerous chains and watches, dark trousers, and stylish boots.
Did Diamond Platnumz struggle with English?
The interviewer asked who he was, but Diamond did not seem to understand him.
"Who am I chilling here with?" he asked, expecting the singer to introduce himself. However, Diamond did not understand him and leaned in closer.
The TikToker repeated the question, but it made no difference.
“What’s your name?” he finally asked.
Diamond then introduced himself, and the TikToker praised his look.
"I don’t know the brand name. I just bought it. Just came from Balenciaga to buy some stuff," Diamond responded.
The TikToker then asked Diamond if fashion is important to him when it comes to relationships. He once again struggled with the question, but his publicist came to his rescue. She walked into the shot and asked:
"What is that for?"
The interviewer said it was for TikTok, and she politely told him off.
What did fans say about Diamond's English struggles?
The singer’s struggle with English was not lost on netizens, but others accused the interviewer of trying to embarrass him. Others noted that knowing English is not a measure of intelligence.
Layboynextdoor:
“He is not from Africa, he is from Tanzania.”
Roberto Roberto:
“Diamond is not from Africa, he's Tanzanian, a small village in Kenya.”
HappeningKing:
“I pray Kenyans don’t see this post.”
Dups!
“To be fair, I didn’t hear what the interviewer said either.”
Precioustouch:
“English is hard for Diamond.”
user5328408974581:
“The idea that one has to be fluent in English to be considered 'intellectual' is mad. We are still colonised mentally, though the white man left decades ago.”
NRB DAILY™:
“I don’t do Diamond’s songs, but I think the interviewer knew what he was doing (embarrassing him) until that lady realised.”
𝕮𝖍𝖎𝖈𝖔:
“The intention of the interview...ehem, bro! He's mumbling instead of talking! If I were Platnumz, I'd respond in deep Tanzanian Swahili unapologetically.”
