In an interview with Radio 47, the woman from Busia county claimed that she was not born black.
"I was born at Mulago Hospital in Uganda in 1975. I am the second-born child of my mother."
Real name Ruth Nafula, Maria claimed that her birth puzzled even the doctors at the hospital.
Was Maria Mama wa Yesu born white?
"My mother told me I was born a Mzungu, only my hair was black, showing that I am African. The doctors were puzzled seeing an African woman giving birth to a white child."
Maria said that the doctors gathered around, asking themselves questions. Her mother was equally puzzled.
"Growing up, people would come to see me, viewing me as a gift."
Maria said she was healthy until age six when she fell ill.
"My bones used to hurt me. I used to ask what I did wrong."
Maria said that when her father died, he left her with a lasting message.
“My father cried thrice and asked for a Bible. He opened Luke 4:18-19. He said he died because of the verse.”
The Bible verse says:
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
