However, a stray bullet found its way into their home and struck the young girl, cutting her life short.
"We have never seen protests like those we saw on Monday. We have never had a person shot dead here in Ndumberi. This part of Kiambu has always been safe," she narrated.
Lucy said she and her daughter were seated in the house around 6.20pm when they heard a loud noise.
Moments later, she noticed Bridget's hand was bleeding.
"I thought she had been cut by something. But when I grabbed her hand to check where the blood was coming from, she fell to the floor. That’s when I saw a bullet hole in her head."
Despite the family rushing her to the hospital, doctors later confirmed that a bullet was lodged in her head.
Medics tried to resuscitate her and transfer her to another facility, but she sadly succumbed to her injuries.
