For some Kenyan celebrities, the year has been particularly rough in matters of the heart.
In a span of just over six months, several big names in the entertainment industry have seen their romantic relationships unravel, some quietly and others dramaticly.
From cryptic Instagram stories to explosive live sessions and bold accusations, love has clearly not been easy for these celebrities.

1. Comedian YY and Noela Toywa
Just five days into the new year, Comedian YY shocked fans after announcing his split from his girlfriend, Noela Toywa.
The two had appeared to be deeply in love, treating followers to flashy displays of affection, including chopper dates and even rumours that YY had gifted Noela land.
He had also visited her parents, suggesting the relationship was headed towards something serious.
YY’s breakup with Noela came months after his fallout with baby mama and fellow content creator Marya Okoth, making this his second public separation in under a year.

2. Karangu Muraya and Triza Njeri
Gospel singer and philanthropist Karangu Muraya's marital saga has been anything but simple.
Karangu, who has two wives, Triza Njeri and Carol Kim, found himself at the centre of social media drama when Triza accused him of neglecting her and their home in the village.

Their issues played out in public, with emotional live sessions and accusations flying back and forth.
At one point, both parties hinted at pursuing divorce.
However, just when fans thought it was over, Karangu surprised many by gifting Triza over KSh 700,000 during her album launch and later buying her a car.
Despite these gestures, the true state of their relationship remains unclear, with fans speculating the two never fully reconciled.

3. Eric Omondi and Lynne Njihia
In April, comedian Eric Omondi and his Gen Z partner, Lynne Njihia, went their separate ways.
The couple, once the darling of many with their undeniable chemistry and adorable romantic moments, called it quits, with Lynne taking to social media to announce the breakup.
She left with their daughter, Kyla Omondi, and moved into a new home.
Eric responded subtly noting 'dust is constant'.
However, recently he praised Lynne and their daughter publicly, fuelling speculation about a possible reunion.

4. Jacky B and Brenda Michelle
Producer Jacky B and his wife Brenda Michelle quietly ended their marriage.
Michelle confirmed the separation in a composed statement, revealing that their union had ended some time back, but she was only now ready to speak about it.
She asked for privacy and thanked supporters for standing by her.
Jacky B never addressed the matter publicly.

5. Mulamwah and Ruth K
Undeniably, the messiest breakup of the year belongs to comedian Mulamwah and his baby mama, Ruth K.
In April, Mulamwah revealed they had parted ways, though most fans dismissed the news as a publicity stunt.
The silence that followed kept fans guessing until Ruth moved out and into her own place, confirming the split.
In June, things really spiralled out of control as both parties started airing their dirty laundry online.

Mulamwah accused Ruth of claiming he was HIV positive and demanded back a set of teeth he said he helped her acquire.
The saga escalated further when both shared private bedroom photos on social media.
Eventually, both backed off from the feud, with Ruth getting the short end of the stick, as she later revealed that her father cut off communication with her after Mulamwah sent him her private photos.

6. Khalif Kairo and Wavinya Maria
City businessman Khalif Kairo, who spent a good part of early 2025 battling legal troubles, also endured heartbreak during the same period.
While facing multiple arrests and losing his companies, fans noticed that his once ever-present girlfriend, Wavinya Maria, had gone silent and was no longer by his side.
In February, Kairo confirmed to TUKO.co.ke that they had separated, adding that he had actually advised Wavinya to stay away from his legal troubles for her own peace.

Which Kenyan celebrity was dumped in 2024?
The year 2024 also had its fair share of dramatic breakups.
TUKO.co.ke reported that Nana Owiti, Size 8, Director Trevor, Flaqo, Simon Kabu, and Thee Pluto were among the celebrities who ended their relationships.
Some of those stars, like Director Trevor, moved on, while others, like Size 8, rekindled their romances.
