He was later transferred to Nairobi Central Police Station, where he died just hours after.
In the heat of the protest, the station was set ablaze in what was widely seen as an outcry against police brutality.
Former police spokesperson Charles Owino later accused 2mbili of leading the crowd that torched the station, an allegation the content creator has firmly denied.
“I am a media personality. On the ground, there were even people robbing others of their belongings because they didn’t want to be recorded. But for me, just because they recognised me as a public figure and they are my fans, they let me be. I also went there as a mourner. Why would I lead such a thing?”
Is 2mbili under investigations?
He added that if he had any intention of inciting the crowd, he would have done so long ago, given his influence.
“There’s even a video of me asking the crowd why they wanted to take the body to the station. When Ojwang’s father was overwhelmed, I helped him talk to the mourners, pleading with them to take the body home first out of respect,” he explained.

What did Charles Owino say about Boniface Kariuki's shooting?
In another story, Owino claimed that Boniface Kariuki insulted the officer just before he was shot during the anti-police brutality protests.
The incident, which was captured on video and widely shared online, sparked public uproar and renewed calls for an end to police brutality.
According to Owino, the officer was using rubber bullets but panicked and fired the wrong way in the middle of the chaos.
