Senge Hellena, a Kalenjin comedian who attended protests in Nairobi, has had his show at the Eldoret Sports Club cancelled.

His real name is Vitalis Kiplagat, and he rose to fame by dressing as an elderly woman and creating vernacular content.

Kiplagat travelled to the capital, where thousands of youth honoured those who died during the 2024 anti-Finance Bill demonstrations.

The performer, widely known for emceeing traditional Kalenjin wedding ceremonies called koito, shared several images of himself in the streets on Wednesday, June 25.

“I stand with our fallen brothers and sisters. We will all fall,” he captioned the photos.

One image captured him with his fist raised in the air as a sign of resistance.

The photos quickly gained attention online, with some fans threatening to cancel him.

A letter seen by TUKO.co.ke from the Eldoret Sports Club cancelled the event scheduled for Saturday, August 2.

“Due to the security situation currently in the country, we hereby cancel the hosting of the event with immediate effect. Sorry for the inconvenience caused,” the letter, signed by the club secretary, read in part.

In a Thursday, July 10 social media post, Kiplagat said that the Tos Majehovah show will continue as planned.

What did Senge Hellena say about show cancellation?

He acknowledged the cancellation by the Eldoret Sports Club, adding that they were in the process of looking for another venue.

"We remain committed to delivering a safe, entertaining, and impactful show."

Kiplagat noted that his team was working with authorities to ensure safety measures are in place.

He further thanked the Eldoret Sports Club for their consideration and expressed willingness to work with them in the future.

"All tickets purchased remain valid," he affirmed.
