"First of all, it is such an honour to be called mum. Peshy has her sister and her brother as well, so yes, they lost their mother, and they are very close to me. I would say we are a very close family. One day, I just woke up and they looked up to me and called me mum. Actually, Waridi was the one who started, she said, ‘Mum,’ and then looked at me. A few days later, Peshy called me mum too," she said.
Mwaka admitted that the gesture overwhelmed her emotionally, as it was a role she had never imagined stepping into.
“For me, I was like, ‘God, what is this?’ because I have never been a mother before and here these kids are, calling me mum,” she said.

How did Mwaka react to being called mum?
Instead of running from the responsibility, Mwaka said that she embraced the moment as a divine assignment.
She added that she turned to her faith, trusting that if God had placed these children in her life, He would also equip her with the strength to raise them in love.
“So I decided what I am going to do is move with the grace of God. I have seen how my mum brought me up, and God, if You have given me these kids to foster them, then why not? That is why I love Peshy with all my heart,” she said. “And coincidentally, we kind of look alike.”
Mwaka went on to affirm that her motherhood journey is a result of divine purpose and grace, not human effort or planning.
“So that is why I am their mother, by the grace of God, and it is always beautiful to mother them. “It is not easy at their age to lose a mother. It is by the grace of God," she said.
