The video's emergence has rekindled online chatter around her highly publicised separation from ex-husband Edward Ndichu.

When did Janet Mbugua get married?

As usual, online sleuths, always on the hunt for nostalgic gems or scandal triggers, dug up the clip of Janet’s opulent wedding, which took place on May 30, 2015, at the lush Chaka Ranch grounds.

The ceremony, aired on Royal Media’s The Wedding Show, was one of the most high-profile unions of that decade.

At the time, Janet and Ndichu were both twins, making the union symbolic as each left behind their sibling to start a new life together.

The event attracted a host of A-list celebrities, with guests arriving in style and fashion befitting the fairytale theme.

Janet was stunned in a snow-white, figure-hugging gown, while Ndichu dazzled in a beige designer suit that turned heads and was considered ahead of its time in Kenyan wedding fashion.

The couple exchanged vows and sealed their promises with a passionate kiss, vows that, in hindsight, did not stand the test of time.

What happened between Edward Ndichu and Janet Mbugua?

Despite the beauty and elegance of the day, their marriage eventually came to an end after five years and two children.

Rumours of infidelity surrounded the split, with controversial blogger Edgar Obare later alleging that Ndichu had been unfaithful and was also involved in an assault scandal alongside his twin brother, Paul.

It was later reported that Janet eventually filed for divorce in 2022, in a bid to formally exit the marriage.

Still, more recent updates suggest the former couple now co-parent peacefully.

In an exclusive interview with TUKO.co.ke, relationship counsellor Jane Muthoni explained that Janet and Ndichu's split, despite their high-profile wedding, highlights deeper issues that many couples face after the ceremony.

"From a counselling perspective, their separation points to a lack of emotional preparedness for marriage. A wedding is a day, but marriage is a lifetime. Couples often get carried away by the excitement of the wedding and forget to build a foundation of communication, trust and shared values," she explained.
