What did William Ruto tell police officers?
In a different report, the president sparked reactions after giving a directive to the police to shoot violent protesters in the leg.
He condemned those who were influencing young people to hit the streets and protest, and in the process damaging people's businesses.
The president also asked people to follow the right channels if they have issues than destroy business premises.
Kenyan police came under intense scrutiny for alleged brutality, following a report by the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNCHR) highlighting the high number of deaths during the recent Saba Saba protests.
His sentiments sparked mixed reactions, with many asking him to retract his remarks, as it could lead to more damage.
Raila Odinga's reaction to shoot to injure order
Elsewhere, ODM leader Raila Odinga strongly criticised Ruto's directive authorising police to disable protesters and labelled it as violent.
The veteran politician emphasised that Kenya is neither a police state nor a dictatorship, asserting that the rule of law must prevail above all else.
The former prime minister urged the government to use the courts and judicial system to hold suspected lawbreakers accountable, rather than resorting to force.
