Eliud Lagat Asks for Help Raising KSh 1.6m for Treatment

Popularly known as Tapnyolei Rosaline, the Kalenjin comedian is famous for cross-dressing and often entertains fans at events and through his online pages.

A poster shared on his Facebook page indicates that Lagat is planning to hold a fundraiser in Nandi county.

"You are warmly invited to join us in supporting Eliud Lagat as he prepares for his second surgery on Sunday, July 20, at Kapkagaon Centre.
"We will also hold a fundraiser to support his medical treatment and ongoing comedy journey. Your presence, prayers, and support will be greatly appreciated," the message read.

TUKO.co.ke reached out to Lagat, and he disclosed that he had undergone an eye operation at Tenwek Hospital and needs to undergo a second procedure.

A spot check by TUKO.co.ke depicted Lagat in the hospital after the first surgery. Despite his condition, he seemed in high spirits as he posed for photos with other patients.

“I need at least KSh 1.6 million for the procedure and other expenses, including after-care services.”

Lagat said that he ventured into comedy in 2021 but got fully engrossed in it in 2022.

Fellow comedian Senge Hellena voiced support for Lagat and urged fans to contribute towards the drive. Hellena also promised to attend the fundraiser.

Why Mombasa barber Sam Kitiki is asking for help

In a similar story, celebrated Mombasa-based barber, Sam Kitiki, moved Kenyans to tears after asking for help to undergo cancer treatment.

Sam revealed that he was battling stomach cancer, stage 3, disclosing chemo sessions are very expensive.

He disclosed that a session costs KSh 34,000, and he needs almost half a million to undergo the remaining 24 chemos.

During a TikTok livestream, Sam revealed his weight had reduced from 160 kilograms to 40 kilograms. He disclosed that he needs KSh 2,800 for a shot daily.

Sam said that before he discovered he had cancer, he became pale and many confused it with skin bleaching.

During the live, the celebrity barber was able to raise some cash and urged netizens to help him get treatment. Sam is currently in Nairobi and will be going for his eighth chemo session next week.

"I need KSh 2,800 for a shot daily. If you do that math. It's almost KSh 80,000 in a month. There's another prescription that I'm supposed to get that's KSh 12,400. That goes for two weeks. It's a lot of money if you calculate this. So any amount you send me will be appreciated. Thank you so much," he said.
