Why did Ras Bhingi abandon house PS Omollo rented for him?

Previously, Bhingi surprised many after abandoning a decent apartment that Interior Permanent Secretary (PS) Raymond Omollo had secured for him.

Despite being offered a comfortable one-bedroom house in Ruiru, Bhingi has chosen to relocate to Mathare slums, citing financial struggles and the need to be closer to his sources of income.

Ras Bhingi moves from decent home to slums

A source close to the matter revealed that PS Omollo had not only cleared Bhingi’s two-month rent arrears in Thika but also secured a one-year lease for him in a more upgraded residence.

The well-furnished apartment was meant to give Bhingi a fresh start in life and better living conditions.

However, despite the significant improvement, Bhingi was not comfortable in the new place and made the drastic decision to move back to the informal settlements of Mathare.

When TUKO.co.ke reached out to him regarding the move, Bhingi explained that his main struggle was unemployment, making it hard for him to afford even basic necessities like food while living in Ruiru.

Bhingi emphasised that rather than being given a house, what he truly needed was a stable job that could enable him to support himself independently.

for the kind gesture by PS Omollo, Bhingi humbly requested that instead of providing him with a house in an unfamiliar area, the PS should have considered helping him secure employment or an affordable housing unit closer to his daily hustles.
