KK Mwenyewe: Tears Flow Freely as Fans View Comedian's Body at Morgue

Fans, family, and content creators have gathered to view the body of KK Mwenyewe, real name Zachariah Kariuki.

Before the body viewing started on Wednesday, July 23, a member of the organising committee set down one rule.

"There will be no taking photos of the body. This is from the family," he said.

What happened at KK Mwenyewe's body viewing?

The master of ceremonies then showed the mourners how they would line up to view the body. From the live video, there were hundreds of mourners and dozens of content creators.

Before the casket was opened, the MC once again insisted on no photos.

"Please, all the people with cameras, please move back, respectfully. Let us respect the family," they said.

All the people carrying cameras left. Those wearing hats were urged to remove them when viewing KK's body.

The church took over the proceedings and started with a prayer.

“May God forgive his sins. May God receive him. When we die, may we find him in heaven,” the preacher said, and offered a prayer for the family.

The casket was opened, and the MC reiterated the no-photos policy.

"If a photo of the body emerges and you took it, harsh action will be taken against you," he said, while pleading with them.

A choir sang as the mourners streamed past the casket to pay their last respects. Emotions ran high as several mourners broke down while viewing KK's body. Several women were overcome by grief and had to be carried by the ushers at the scene.

There were two Land Cruisers at hand with custom licence plates bearing KK's photo. A hearse that ferried the casket to the final resting place was also present.

In other news, Dennis Itumbi visited KK’s home ahead of the burial to deliver President William Ruto’s KSh 1 million pledge to the grieving family.

Tents had been set up for the funeral, and mourners, including neighbours and relatives, gathered to pay tribute.

KK’s grandmother, who had been bedridden, broke down in tears after recalling how her late grandson had supported her.

KK had been the family’s breadwinner, often paying for his grandmother’s meds.

The emotional visit was marked by tears, memories, and prayers, as KK’s mother also appealed to Kenyans for support during this difficult time.
