Zakaria Kariuki alias KK Mwenyewe has been laid to rest in an emotional ceremony at his family home in Lari, Kiambu County, on July 23.

KK died on July 15, after complaining of severe stomach pains. He was rushed to Thika Level 5 by his best friend Kafengo, but never made it back home.

Dressed in all black, Kafengo was part of the hundreds of content creators who showed up to pay their last respects to the talented creative, who died so young.

When he was given a chance to speak, heartbroken Kafengo recalled how their friendship started, noting that KK's death hit him the hardest. He disclosed that apart from being great friends, they came from the same area.

What happened at KK Mwenyewe's funeral?

Moments after the coffin was lowered into the grave, the comedian's family burst into tears. The family was emotional as they took soil to throw into KK's grave.

KK's younger sister broke down in a subtle cry, and relatives comforted her before carrying her away.

More family members shed tears as the comedian was being buried, and some who were heartbroken, unable to stand on their own at the gravesite, were supported.

Netizens comforted the deceased comedian's family, noting that he would be missed.

What was KK Mwenyewe's last message before he died?

In another story, mourners at KK Mwenyewe's funeral were moved to tears when his last skit critiquing the government was played.

In the satirical skit, the talented comedian played a concerned parent seeing off his Gen Z son, ready to join the June 25 anti-government protests.

KK encouraged his son to be on the front line and not be scared, but to keep fighting for his rights.

After the son left, the parent then called a friend inquiring about a parcel of land worth KSh 1.7 million.
